D.O.G. GmbH is certified according to the ISO 17100 translation standard and was successfully audited for the fourth time in summer 2021. The audit was carried out without any objections. All translations are proofread by D.O.G. GmbH revisers according to the dual control principle.
Requirements of the standard:
The current version of the standard is EN ISO 17100:2015, which replaces EN 15038, according to which we were previously certified for many years. The standard describes the individual phases of the translation process, from project preparation to delivery of the finished translation, and sets requirements for the qualifications of the individual actors. It also defines the denomination of the individual roles. For example, the standard distinguishes between editing and proofreading. Editing is done by the reviser, who checks the target language content against the source language content. The proofreading applies to the target language content that has already been edited.

Qualification of D.O.G. staff
The standard specifies which requirements apply to the qualifications of the persons involved in the process:
- The specialized translator must be a trained translator with a corresponding degree or have a university degree plus two years of professional experience as a translator or five years of professional experience as a translator.
- The reviser must be able to demonstrate linguistic, cultural and subject matter competence.
- The technical reviewer must have subject matter expertise and relevant qualifications or experience.
- The project manager must have competence in organizing and supporting the translation process.
It is the responsibility of the translation service provider to ensure continuous training of project managers and reviewers. We adhere to the requirements of the ISO 17100 standard and during the regular audits we were able to prove that our resources and employees have the necessary qualifications.

Handling of translation projects
The handling of translation projects is described in detail in the standard. From the initial order entry, to the mandatory analysis of the source language content, to the project post-processing, all important work steps are covered by the standard. The fact that during the last certification audit, in which projects and data were randomly checked and individual employees were interviewed, the auditor had no complaints is for you a confirmation of our quality.
Quality Manual of D.O.G.
We had completed the first version of our internal quality manual in 2001. It already contained detailed work instructions and forms that help us ensure the quality of our services. In the meantime, our manual comprises almost 200 pages and helps colleagues from various areas such as resource management, quality assurance of translations or terminology work to provide reliable services at the highest level.
